"We have been to several B&B's; hands down though this is the best B&B we have been to...all the information about places to go and things to do have made our stay wonderful."  Wrote guests from Maryland

Note from your innkeeper Shellie - these were fantastic guests who were out and about each day of their stay fueled by a hearty home-cooked breakfast and coffee.  They did so many things, the list is endless -  from flat footing at the Floyd Country Store Friday Night Jamboree, visiting two historic covered bridges to seeing baby llamas on a farm in Callaway. There is a list of local and nearby hikes in each guest room.  Also see the basket of brochures in the parlor for things to do in the area.

4 night/5 day itinerary suggestion

Start each day with an inn-credible breakfast at the Inn including fresh fruit, juice, coffee, eggs, french toast topped with fresh strawberries and sausage or maybe biscuits and gravy.  Life is too short for bad coffee!

Day 1 Check in, wander our beautiful grounds or sit by the pond, relax on the porch with some iced tea or soda. Dine at THE HUB restaurant just a block away - little southern home-cookin' diner! The other end of our street for local music at Edible Vibe Cafe (in season).

Day 2
Tour the
Booker T Washington national monument only 10 miles up the road.  From there follow Route 122 and enjoy a Caribbean buffet on the water aboard the Virginia Dare Paddle Boat at Smith Mountain Lake as it cruises this large lake. Stop at a Mountain Winery for grape stomping or wine tasting.

Day 3
Prepare your heart strings as you visit National
D-Day Memorial in Bedford, placed in Bedford as they lost more men per capita than any other place in the USA. Bedford Boys was the book written about this brave community; the movie Saving Private Ryan made after these boys.  Enjoy dinner in an old train depot the Olde Liberty Station for the best hot pastrami and award winning cheesecake.   Or stop at Homestead Creamery on the way home in Burnt Chimney for fresh home churned ice cream (no additives) you can see the dairy cows out back.

Day 4 Visit downtown Roanoke for our new art museum, transportation museum, O. Winston Link museum,  and some fantastic restaurants, many feature live music in the evenings. Don't forget your camera and go to the famous Texas Tavern.  Park and walk to all of these places. Parking is free after 5pm in certain lots.  Walk the famous Farmer’s Market, take in a live show at Mill Mountain Theater and end your evening at our local Mill Mountain Coffee.

Day 5
Check out, Antique shopping awaits you! Our local Blue Ridge Antique Center is just 3 miles North of the B&B.  (Check our list of local wing dings to insert foot stompin' bluegrass in here)
